Project Objectives The overall objective: Poverty reduction in the context of sustainable development, including the pursuit of the health related MDGs

Project Objectives Specific Objective: T o empower non-state actors to address regional and social disparities in mother and child health, nutrition and family planning through health related poverty reduction initiatives targeting populations and geographic areas that are out of reach of development mainstream and excluded from policy-making processes.

Focal Sector 1.Health sector 2.Specific target: Safe motherhood Integrated with: 1.Nutrition 2.Family planning.

Geographic Criteria 1.Arid and Semi Arid Lands (ASAL) ONLY 2.Action either in one county as a whole 3.In one whole district in one county, 4.In more whole districts in one county 5.Without overlapping actions with the other NSAs applicants 6.NOT more than one county or a part of a district.

Expected Results/Actions Child and maternal mortality ratios reduced 2.Nutrition status of mothers, newborn and children under five years improved 3.Family planning uptake improved 4.Capacities of health-care delivery systems improved

Timeline The deadline for submission of concept notes is 20 March 2012: - Hand delivery: 16:30 hrs local time - Post/courier: date of dispatch, postmark or date of deposit slip 2.Applications submitted late are automatically rejected

Eligibility -1 Applicant: Who may apply? - Legal persons - Non profit making -Nationals of Kenya or EU MS - Local NSA: registered at least 2 yrs - EU NSA : registered at least 3 yrs - Partnership - Local NSA : minimum 1 local partner - EU NSA : minimum 2 local partners

Eligibility - 2 Eligibility of Partners: - NSA: must satisfy same criteria as applicant Eligibility of others : Associates: do not have to meet the same eligibility criteria as applicants and partners. Sub-contractors: are subject to procurement rules set out in Annex IV.
