What carrier oils are you using & why? Consider: Skin feel, absorption rates, beneficial properties Rice Bran Oil – High content of palmitic acid, oleic acid, linoleic acid and ferulic acid, which help to reduce fine lines and skin ageing, improve the skin’s barrier, and retain moisture. Ferulic acid - a good source of antioxidant that helps to repair damaged skin from caused by the sun, radiation or light plus good amounts of Vitamin E (another antioxidant). Skin feel: Soft, nourishing, silky, quite quickly absorbed. Macadamia Nut Oil -­‐ High in oleic acid which is absorbed easily, has a moisturizing effect on the skin and offers skin cell regeneration and anti- inflammatory properties. Consider: Skin feel, absorption rates, beneficial properties Borage Oil - It is rich in GLA (an omega 6 fatty acid) which helps the skin to retain moisture, prevents it from drying. It has great skin rejuvenation, anti- aging properties. Improves skin cell elasticity and holds onto moisture keeping the skin hydrated and moisturized. Skin feel: Dry, quickly absorbed. Raspberry Seed Oil – Rich in vitamin E – an antioxidant. Palmitic, oleic and linoleic acid content helps to improve elasticity, form a lipid barrier, reduce transepidermal loss, reduce inflammation and enhance skin barrier repair. What essential oils are you using & why? Consider: What overall fragrance do you want? Uplifting, relaxing, floral, etc? Beneficial properties of the oils Frankincense – Astringent, cytophylactic and a tonic for the skin. Heals, regenerates, hydrates and tones the skin, improving elasticity. Woody and lemon-like aroma, that is calming, soothing and clarifying for the mind. Neroli – Cytophylactic, cicatrisant, deodorant and circulatory stimulant. Regenerating, healing and hydrating oil, particularly good for smoothing out wrinkles, healing blemishes and scars. Good anti- ageing properties. A strong, warm, sweet and bitter aroma that is antidepressant, hypnotic and euphoric. Benzoin – Astringent, antiseptic, warming and a circulatory tonic. Tones the skin tissue, heals blemishes, and encourages a glowing complexion. What cosmeseuticals/ high performance ingredients are you using & why? Sea Buckthorn CO2 Extract – Very high content of palmitic and palmitoleic as well as oleic acid. Helps to regenerate skin cells, is a good anti-inflammatory agent, fights bacteria, boosts skin barrier protection and repair, moisturizes and softens and reduces water loss. Comfrey Tincture – Caffeic acid protects the skin and is a powerful anti-oxidant. Helps to reduce inflammation, redness, and swelling and improve the skin’s barrier due to presence of phytosterols, which also moisturise the tissue. Allantoin is a great wound healer and skin protector. Rejuvenating, regenerating, healing. Retains moisture, softens and smoothes the skin. Vitamin E Oil - Antioxidant, moisturizing, rejuvenation, anti-ageing, healing, anti-inflammatory. Antioxidants protect skin from free radical damage. Stimulation of cell formation. Clinical improvement in the visible signs of skin aging has been documented with significant decrease in skin wrinkling.
