Example Sentences ___t____ ASL: YOUR CAR NICE. ____t____ ASL: HIS MOVIE FUNNY. ___t___ ASL: MY BOOK GOOD. ____________whq_____________ ASL: YOUR (fs) ADDRESS WHAT?

“And” “Or” The word “and” is used differently in ASL than English. Generally, ASL does not use a specific sign because “and” is implied by a slight pause, head nod, and change or eye gaze.

Live vs. Address TO LIVE ADDRESS. Don’t confuse the sign TO LIVE and ADDRESS. They are easily mistaken because they look very similar, but the movement of each sign is different.

Examples _______whq_____ ASL: YOU LIVE WHERE? _____________________ ASL: I FORGOT YOUR ADDRESS. ______q_____ ASL: YOU LIVE FAR? ________________________ ASL: WRITE DOWN YOUR ADDRESS.

Time In ASL, time goes first. ___________________ Example: MONDAY I GO (fs) MALL. ___________________ LAST WEEK I FIND JOB. ___________________ YESTERDAY I HAD TEST.

Now, You Sign Sign a Sentence using time first. You can use: Today, Yesterday, Tomorrow, Morning, Noon, Night.

Months of the Year The months of the year are fingerspelled using their abbreviation or the full word for the month.

The months using abbreviations are: January - Jan February –Feb August – Aug September – Sept October – Oct November – Nov December – Dec

The months that are fingerspelled are: March April May June July

LOVE-IT When do you use the sign LOVE-IT? Use LOVE-IT when signing about a non- romantic “love” for things or people. LOVE-IT is often used instead of “like a lot” or similar phrases.
