Wave Information. 1.A wave is an oscillation or back and forth OR up and down movement. 2. Waves that travel through matter are called mechanical waves.
Matter Anything that has mass and takes up space..
Energy Energy = travels in WAVES –Waves carry energy from one place to another –Light and sound both move in Waves.
Light Energy. Light travels in straight lines… until it is reflected (bounced) off of an object…

Presentation transcript:

Forms of Energy

Energy What is needed to do or cause change

Mechanical Energy Energy produced by a machine or moving part

Light Energy A form of energy that can travel through space and be seen by the human eye

Sound Energy Energy produced from a vibration that you can hear

Electrical Energy A flow of electrical charge through a conductor

Thermal Energy Energy that causes a transfer of heat between materials

Light

Reflection Energy waves bouncing off the surface of an object (Mirrors or echoes return energy back to the source.)

Refraction Energy waves that bend (change direction and speed) as they pass from one type of object to another

Lens A clear piece of curved glass or plastic that bends passing light to focus or spread the light rays

Circuits

Electric Circuit The pathway through which electrical current flows

Conductor Material that allows electric current to flow through easily

Insulator Material that stops current from flowing

Flow To move or travel smoothly in a certain direction

Electric Current The flow of electricity around a circuit
