Boiler Energy Saver Advanced Boiler Controls

Most boiler controls at present consist of a switch!

This switch may also have a timer

Or even a thermostat

Controllers that offer more than just a switch! An intelligent thermostat More importantly make energy savings up to 25% on most types of heating boiler by controlling them more efficiently.

Note  The Boiler Energy Saver does not replace the existing time clock  It controls the boiler only  Requires a 240 volt constant supply if possible  If not will operate with the switched power from the time clock

The Boiler Energy Saver advantages:  Boiler operated on the flow and return temperatures  Reduced cycling  Boiler heat saturation reduction  System operates at lower temperatures while still maintaining comfort levels  Manual bypass facility  Hot water priority  + model has external temperature sensor to operate a variable thermostat.

Most Gas boilers consist or a heat exchanger Heated by a flame from below The thermostat in red operates on the Temperature build up in the heat exchanger This is a crude way of controlling a boiler And you get short cycling of the boiler Return – Flow pipe work Boiler Off Boiler On

By attaching sensors to the flow and return The Boiler Energy controller can predict the Rate of rise of the return temperature and holds the Boiler off for longer periods saving fuel while Maintaining comfort levels. Return – Flow pipe work Boiler Off Boiler On

The same can be said for heat saturation When the boiler switches off using the internal Sensor the temperature build up often means That the water temperature overshoots the set Point wasting energy Return – Flow pipe work Boiler Off Set point Boiler on Set point Overshoot caused By heat saturation Control on flow Return switches Off at correct temperature

Note The same can be said for oil boilers  They have mechanical firing systems therefore reduced firing has a larger saving  They also have often have cast iron heat exchangers making heat saturation worse

Resume:  The Boiler Energy Saver monitors flow and return temperatures.  It reduces unnecessary boiler firings by predicting the rate that the rate of rise of the return temperature and holding the boiler off  Temperature sensors on the pipes eliminate heat saturation in the boiler and wasted energy

We also supply a + Model which is ideal for additional saving and Combi Boilers The weather compensation electronically adjusts the flow temperature in the heating mode to take into account the outside air temperature. The warmer it is outside the lower the flow temperature, this is reversed as the outside temperature drops.

The exterior sensor is mounted in a position That will not be directly in the sun The wire is run back to the terminal block On the bottom of the Energy Saver Return – Flow pipe work Boiler Off Set point when outside temp 2 deg C The Temperature of the water Is reduced by 4 or 5 °C by the Variable response Boiler Off Set point when outside temp 10 deg C

 Houses lose more heat on colder days, it stands to reason that on a warmer day the house can be heated to the same temperature but using water at a lower temperature saving energy.  A Boiler Energy Saver will make no saving on the hot water going to the taps as this is directly heated. However installation of the + model on the heating will maximise the savings possible on the heating side.

The Boiler Energy Saver operates below the internal boiler thermostat temperatures. The existing temperature sensor is not removed The boiler controls are not physically altered but set just above the operating temperature of the Energy Saver. Manual bypass switch will allow system to operate as previously before installation.

Bypass will Prevent the Boiler Energy Saver from Controlling the boiler Returning to the Internal thermostat Boost allows 1hr running in The event of Additional hot Water required Set Temperature Allows the installer To set both flow And return temperature Digital display allows for programming and displays ‘firing’ and ‘economising’ as it operates
