Infinitivos NP 30 Infinitives

1. In English and Spanish…  Verbs can be conjugated (or not).  A verb that is conjugated has a subject.  Ejemplo: I swim. You swim. He swims.  The verb may change depending on who does the action.

2. When a verb is not conjugated…  It is called an infinitive.  An English infinitive always includes the preposition “to”.  Ejemplo: to swim, to like, to play videogames, to practice sports

3. A Spanish infinitive…  Always ends with –ar, -er or –ir.  Ejemplo: nadar, gustar, jugar or practicar.  These are called “–ar” verbs.  Can you see why?
