1. In English and Spanish… Verbs can be conjugated (or not). A verb that is conjugated has a subject. Ejemplo: I swim. You swim. He swims. The verb may change depending on who does the action.
2. When a verb is not conjugated… It is called an infinitive. An English infinitive always includes the preposition “to”. Ejemplo: to swim, to like, to play videogames, to practice sports
3. A Spanish infinitive… Always ends with –ar, -er or –ir. Ejemplo: nadar, gustar, jugar or practicar. These are called “–ar” verbs. Can you see why?
