What is Louisiana shaped like? Louisiana is shaped like a boot. What are Louisiana’s borders? Arkansas, Texas, Mississippi, and the Gulf of Mexico are Louisiana’s borders. What is Louisiana’s state capital? Baton Rouge is the capital of Louisiana.

What is a political map? A political map of an area shows where cities and the borders of states and countries are located.

What is the longest and largest river in the United States? (p. 31) The Mississippi River is the longest and largest river in the U.S.

What is a floodplain? (P. 31) A floodplain is land where waters of a river spill over.

What does fertile mean? (P. 31) Fertile means good for growing crops. Why is the floodplain along the Mississippi River good for growing crops? The floodplain is good for growing crops because it has fertile soil.

What two major cities are located along the Mississippi River? (P. 32) Baton Rouge and New Orleans are located along the Mississippi River.

What does population mean? (P. 32) Population is the number of people leaving in an area. New Orleans and Baton Rouge both have large populations.
