The Easy See Hood Allison B. Age:12 Virginia

Think it  I got the idea for my invention when my dad told me how he almost ran into someone at the metro. He was wearing a heavy winter coat with a hood that blocked his side vision.  When you wear one of these large coats, you have to turn your whole body to look left or right because the hood stays straight while your head turns.  In crowded areas, this can lead to getting hit by cars, people or running into other hazards.  The problem is solved by attaching a stretchy band of material between the hood and the coat. This allows the hood to move with the head and improve visibility.

Explore it A solution to this problem is to make the hood out of clear plastic (see picture A). But, this does not keep the head warm and is uncomfortable. Winter coats also come without hoods so visibility is not restricted (see picture B). But a hat and scarf need to be worn to protect the head. Those can be lost and are not as convenient as a hood. The fabric used for the invention can be as long as a scarf to add protection against the weather and it cannot be lost since it is attached to the coat. de-France-Cycling-Sports-Men-Cycle-Long-Sleeve-Jersey- Wind-Coat-Rain/ html A) amazon.com/images/I/41FztPpI27L._SX342_.jpg B)

The Easy See Hood The modified jacket hood allows you to be able to see all of the things around you such as cars, people, and buildings. Lessens the chance of an accident by letting the person wearing the coat see better. A stretchy band of material is attached between the hood and the coat. This allows the hood to move with the head and improve visibility.

Create It - Materials  Winter coat  Scarf  Safety Pins

Create it - Making the Invention 1.Detach the hood from the coat. 2.Line up the scarf up to the hood and coat. 3.Use safety pins to attach the scarf to the coat and the hood

Try it – Before and After Before: The hood does not turn with the head. Side vision reduced After: The hood turns with the head. Side vision back to normal
