Introduction Synthesis of glass Physico-chemical characterization of the prepared glass Synthesis and characterizations of functionalized glass Conclusions and Outlook Synthesis and functionalization of 92S bioactive glasses for drug delivery system Nizar BCHELLAOUI, Nouha LETAIEF, Sana BEN KHALIFA, Mohamed MAMI, Rachida DORBEZ–SRIDI Physico-Chemical Laboratory of Materials, faculty of sciences of Monastir, Tunisia. XRD patterns of 92S glass before and after soaking in SBF FTIR spectra of 92S glass before and after soaking in SBF Functionalization protocol of 92S bioglass with APTS FTIR spectra of initial and functionnalized 92S glass TEM and FT micrography of 92S glass SEM micrography of 92S glass before (a) and after (b) functionnalization. SEM micrography of 92S glass before (a) and after (b) functionnalization. APTS : AminoPropylTriéthoxySilane a b modified surface after grafting of APTS  Functionalization 92S with an organic function (in our case the aminopropyltrietoxysilane) at the surface of grains( it can be insides of pores) was investigated in the aim to use in the drug delivery system.  To improve the optical characteristics of our bioglass other synthesis method is adopted as producing from complex sol-gel precursor solutions by droplet-based microfluidics technick to obtain monodisperse a mesoporous, macroporous microspheres in the aim to fabricate a potential drug delivery systems in microfluidic devices. Appearance of same characteristic peaks of bioactivity after 15 day of immersion in SBF solution, taking as reference the commersialized hydroxyappatite (HA). Appearance of hydroxyappatite (HA) characteristic bond (P-O and) after 15 days of immersion in SBF solution, - Ordered porosity shown in TEM micrography -Hexagonal geometry shown in FT micrography In addition to the characteristics bonds of the 92S glass, characteristics bonds of the organic function (N-H, C-N and C-H bond) appear.  In the present work, a glass, based on the molar composition 92 SiO 2 -6 CaO-2 P 2 O 5 (mol %) has been synthesized by sol-gel method and characterized.  Our mesoporous glass is bioactive. An apatite-like phase is formed at the glasses surface when soaked in SBF, as confirmed by FTIR spectroscopy results and XRD spectra. A new glass formulation, with the molar composition 92% SiO 2 – 6 % CaO – 2% P 2 O 5 was synthesized using the sol-gel process, for applications as biomaterial in orthopaedic or maxillo facial surgery. Pellets, made of glass powder, were uniaxially compacted and soaked in Simulated Body Fluid (SBF) for up to 7 days at 37°C to evaluate glass bioactivity. Ionic exchanges at the interface glass-SBF were evaluated by studying evolutions of calcium, phosphorus and silicon concentrations in SBF using ICP-OES. Changes in glass surface, and the formation of crystalline phases were analyzed using XRD, SEM, EDS and FTIR methods. In the pharmaceutical field, these materials are particularly interesting for the synthesis of drugs for controlled release.
