REQUEST FOR CONSIDERATION TO HONOR HOUSE BILL 367 Why should the Henderson County School District consider giving a salary supplement to Speech-Language Pathologists with their Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP)?

SLP’S MUST HOLD THEIR CCC’S TO BILL MEDICAID FOR THEIR SERVICES

MEDICAID REIMBURSEMENT MORE THAN COVERS THE COMPENSATION $97,980 Medicaid Reimbursement $2000 X 16 Speech Therapists equals $32,000 Salary Supplement District benefits $65,980

NBC COMPARED TO CCC NBC Minimum degree: BA/BS National Teacher’s Exam first, then spend 3 years teaching before applying Requires a portfolio review of aspects of the candidates teaching and written exercises at an assessment center CCC Minimum Degree: MA/MS Complete a graduate degree and pass the American Speech- Language Hearing Association (ASHA) exam Assessment performed three times during the clinical fellowship by a supervisor who holds the CCC--21 skills are assessed in this real world setting

WHY CAN’T SLP’S APPLY FOR NATIONAL BOARD CERTIFICATION (NBC)? Speech-language pathology is not one of the 24 areas for which the NBPTS offers certification but the CCC program exceeds it in nearly every regard.
