History & Politics Visits in Berlin Checkpoint Charlie The No. 1 museum in Germany about the Wall and the Cold War, situated a few metres from where the famous checkpoint once stood. As well as documenting the unpleasant events of the Cold War, a large section is devoted to heroic ways in which East Berlin citizens tried to escape to the West. Since the wall came down in 1989 the museum stands as a permanent reminder of this time.

History & Politics Visits in Berlin Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp Many Nazi concentration camps have been preserved and opened to the public as memorials to those that suffered at the hands of National Socialism.. There is a museum, memorial hall and cinema where a film about the history of the camp is shown hourly, on the hour. The camp prison still stands, as does one barrack block, which has been restored. On the front entrance gates to the camp is the infamous slogan Arbeit Macht Frei, “Work Makes You Free”. On the tour you will see why Sachsenhausen was built, how conditions worsened inside the camp, "death march" liberation, the Jewish barracks, punishment cells, execution grounds, crematorium "Station Z“, the pathology laboratory and the camp hospital

History & Politics Visits in Berlin Olympic Stadium – Berlin The current Olympiastadion was originally built for the 1936 Summer Olympics in the southern part of the Reichssportfeld. During World War II the area suffered little damage. After the war, the British military occupation used the northern part of the Reichssportfeld as its headquarters until In 2006 the stadium hosted the final match of FIFA World Cup. The building has a two ‐ story pier: the Marathon Gate and a monumental staircase lead to the upper level. The site’s conception is characteristic of the architecture of the Third Reich, and the Olympic Stadium remains typical of this style. Today, it hosts major events and concerts featuring international stars.
