This is where we live! Karpenissi- Greece

Our Country It is located in southeastern Europe. Greece's population is around 10.8 million. Athens is the nation's capital and largest city, followed by Thessaloniki, which is commonly referred to as the co-capital. Greece is strategically located at the crossroads of Europe, Asia, and Africa. Situated on the southern tip of the Balkan peninsula, it shares land borders with Albania to the northwest, FYROM and Bulgaria to the north and Turkey to the northeast.

The Aegean Sea lies to the east of the mainland, the Ionian Sea to the west, and the Mediterranean Sea to the south.

Greece has one of the longest histories of any country. Here are some well known monuments and sights.

Greece also consists of thousands of beautiful islands. Here are some of them!

SANTORINI Santorini, Thira or Round (older name) is an island located in the southern Aegean Sea, the island complex of Cyclades, south of Ios and west of Anafi. Its distance from Piraeus, the largest Greek port, is 128 nautical miles and 63 nautical miles from Crete. The Athinios Port, the largest port of the island, has been created in the homonym cove. Today Santorini is one of the most famous tourist centers of the world. It is known for its volcano. The last volcanic activity was the year 1950.

CORFU Corfu is a Greek island in the Ionian Sea. It is the second largest of the Ionian Islands and, including its small satellite islands, forms the northwesternmost part of Greece. Ιs Located at the entrance of the Adriatic Sea, near the coast of Epirus. The northeastern coast quite close (approx. 2 km) of the coast of Sarande, Albania. Its shape is oblong, wider in northern and narrows to the south. Its coasts have a total length of 217 km, forming many bays and capes. The terrain is mostly mountainous, especially in the north. Corfu has a hot-summer Mediterranean climate. Corfu is a very popular tourist destination.

It is a Greek island in the Aegean. It has a population of inhabitants and is the third largest island in the Dodecanese area following Rhodes and Karpathos and the second in population after Rhodes. The surface of the island is km² with a coastline 112 km. It is rich in historical monuments island and presents valuable archaeological and tourist interest. Also called "island of Hippocrates," the father of medicine, because there was born Hippocrates. Today it is a modern tourist island with many possibilities in the field accommodation, food, sports, excursions, entertainment. The most striking feature that characterizes the island are endless bike paths, so very often it is characterized as the island of the bicycle.

Tourist attractions in Evrytania

Tymfristos or Velouchi Tymfristos or Velouchi is a mountain in Central Greece. It has an altitude of 2,315 meters. Near the peaks an Alpine lake is formed.

Panta-Vrechei One of the most spectacular and beautiful areas of Evrytania prefecture is Panta-Vrechei gorge, The name of this special canyon means ‘’the always raining’’ place. There are also beautiful waterfalls, creating a continuous artificial rain. The result is a magical landscape! To reach the canyon you can choose between three routes. In all you will need to cross by car, ideally jeep, a distance and then hike through the river to reach the point always raining.

Proussos Monastery The Proussos Monastery is a monastery of the prefecture. It is spiritual and pilgrimage center of the entire region. It is built in a majestic landscape, a steep, rocky area between mountains Chelidona, Kaliakouda and mountain Panaitolikon, which are overgrown with trees. The Monastery is dedicated to Virgin Mary and celebrates on August 23 rd.

Kefalovrisso Kefalovrisso is just 3 km from Karpenissi. It is the location of one of the most important battles of the 1821 Revolution, on August 8th, 1823, when Markos Botsaris with 450 soldiers from Souli attacked the of the Turkish army. Markos Botsaris was killed there. Today the monument of Markos Botsaris and the battle stand there, reminding visitors of the historical significance of Kefalovrysso. Among other things, it is an ideal location for relaxation.

Karpenissi is a town in central Greece and it is the capital of the regional unit of Evrytania.It is in a mountainous area and it has a lot of natural beauty and vegetation. It probably took its name from the Turkish word Kar-benis which means snowy location.It’s extension is about miles and it’s population is people.Karpenisi has a traditional architecture and many museums.A village near Karpenisi is Megalo Chorio which is one of the most graphic village in Evrytania.Also beautiful and famous villages in Evrytania are Agios Nikolaos and Voutiro.
