Presentation transcript:

Compound Microscope An Essential and Affordable Apparatus Compound microscopes are also known as Biological or High Power microscopes. They are used for viewing transparent specimens that are not typically visible to the naked eye.

Types Of Compound Microscope  Standard Compound Light Microscope  Inverted Compound MicroscopeCompound Microscope  Stereo Microscope  Monocular Microscope  Digital Microscope  UV Compound Microscope  The Fluorescence Microscope

Standard Compound Light Microscope An image of the specimen is enlarged by usually 10X with eyepiece lens and then it is further enlarged with objective lens fitted to revolving nose piece by 4X, 10X, 40X or 100X.

Inverted Compound Microscope Prevents the specimen from being touched by high-powered lenses and enables the examination of thicker and larger specimens

Stereo Microscope Enlarge the image of the specimen to about 270X and creates 3-Dimensional image of the specimen unlike the standard compound microscope which produces 2- Dimensional image with the single lens. compound microscope

Monocular Microscope In order to get a clear image of the specimen on the stage, a person needs to close one eye which can be a bit uncomfortable.

Digital Microscope Light source is above the specimen on the stage and image obtained is 3- Dimensional. Image is digitized and can be seen on a monitor or screen.

UV Compound Microscope Allows UV light to pass which produces resolution twice of the visible light. It uses mercury arc or xenon burner as a source of the light.

Fluorescence Microscope This modification of compound microscope excites fluorescence of the specimen by using UV light.
