Roller sport — several sports in which the athlete (roller) moves on roller skates. Roller sport is divided into groups by the type of athletes of roller skates and includes over a dozen different subspecies.

Freestyle slalom — execution sequence of various technical and artistic elements to the music on a flat, horizontal surface, and lined with the special cones; AIDS slalom (speed slalom) — travel in the minimum time on one leg of the track from 20 of the cones;

Slides — the artistic execution of braking in one or both legs or wheels; High jump — perform high jump (on flat ground or jumping) to overcome or set height with the air of artistic elements (stunts);

Speedskating is the distance on the track or on the highway.

Figure skating — moving around the court on roller skates to the music with the performance of technical and artistic elements (jumps, spins, turns). Distinguish between single and pair figure skating.

Aggressive skating stunt skating, main element of which are jumping and sliding on various parts of the roller skate, which can be supplemented by a performance of acrobatic stunts in the air.

Street (eng. street) — riding in outdoor environments to overcome obstacles in the form of stairs, railings and parapets. The skaters perform various stunt elements. Popular types of tricks are sliding along the edges and jumping from obstacles. Vert (eng. vertical ) — in skating the ramp to perform tricks. Fans of this type of riding is traditionally performed by various kinds of departures from the ramp, stand on my hands slide along the edge of the ramp.

Race on roller skis — variety of races (relay, shootout, sprint), carried out on long two-wheeled roller skates (roller skis); Summer biathlon — the biathlon, which is skiing athletes to the track on roller skis.

Due to similar to ice skates skate design and motion control for many types of course similar from winter sports. However, there is in the course and their specific disciplines, as, for example, slides. Often athletes winter sports are roller sports to practice in the summer: the skaters are skating, and skate skiers on roller skis. In addition, some types of roller sports, like their winter counterparts, were proposed for inclusion on the Olympic sports. Applications for inclusion in the program of Olympic games served for the Olympics 2012 and 2016 and both times were rejected. The next attempt will be made to the Olympic games in 2020.
