A Demon is a Fallen Angel Chose to follow the devil rather than God Would they have the power of an angel? Examples: ◦ Bring messages? ◦ Appear as a human? ◦ Do not bring comfort, but bring discomfort? ◦ Do not rescue, but bring forth danger?

Acts 19:11-12 “And God was doing extraordinary miracles by the hands of Paul, so that even handkerchiefs or aprons that had touched his skin were carried away to the sick, and their diseases left them and the evil spirits came out of them.” Paul is battling demons in Ephesus and winning Why? Because he is on the side of Jesus

Jesus Has Defeated All Evil “The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil.” - 1 John 3:8 “…he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.” - 1 John 4:4 “He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him.” – Colossians 2:15

Acts 19:13-16 “Then some of the itinerant Jewish exorcists undertook to invoke the name of the Lord Jesus over those who had evil spirits, saying, “I adjure you by the Jesus whom Paul proclaims.” Seven sons of a Jewish high priest named Sceva were doing this. But the evil spirit answered them, “Jesus I know, and Paul I recognize, but who are you?” And the man in whom was the evil spirit leaped on them, mastered all of them and overpowered them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.”

Ways Demons Harm us Today You can worship a demon and thereby you enter a relationship with that demon, inviting them into your life Any worship of anything other than Jesus Christ is the worship of a demon

Ways Demons Harm us Today “…never sacrifice your son or daughter as a burnt offering. And do not let your people practice fortune telling, or use sorcery, or interpret omens, or engage in witchcraft, or cast spells, or functions as mediums or psychics, or call forth the spirits of the dead. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the LORD.” – Deuteronomy 18:10-12

Ways Demons Harm Us Today We must stay far away from these demonic activities

Demons Harm us Through Temptation “…the devil had already put it into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, to betray him.” – John 13:2 Angels can bring good emotions and comfort Demons can bring bad emotions and temptation

Demons Harm us Through False Teaching “Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting(worship) themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons.” – 1 Timothy 4:1 All false doctrines originate from demons.

Demons Harm us by Hindering our Prayers “The prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me 21 days, but Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I was left there with the kings of Persia…” – Daniel 10:13 “I will return to fight against the prince of Persia; and when I go out, behold the prince of Greece will come…there is none who contends by my side against these except, Michael, your prince.” – Daniel 10:20-21

The devil has stationed demons all over the world God has angels all over the world as well

What Do You Need to “Burn”? Interest in astrology, ghosts, mysticism? Interest in media/entertaiment that is sinful? Are our kids being sacrificed at the altars of acadamia, extra curricular activities or at God’s altar? Are we flirting with false doctrines from demons? Are we engaged in sinful lifestyles that make the demons rejoice

You Must Have the Holy Spirit “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed? And they said, “No, we have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit,” And he said, “Into what then were you baptized?” They said, “Into John’s baptism.” And Paul said, “John baptized with the baptism of repentance, telling the people to believe in the one who was to come after him, that is, Jesus.” On hearing this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.” – Acts 19:2-5
