Early Intervention Under IDEA, The Early Intervention Program offers a variety of therapeutic and support services to eligible infants and toddlers with disabilities and their families. Disabilities can range from a confirmed disability or established developmental delay, as defined by the State, in one or more of the following areas of development: physical, cognitive, communication, social-emotional, and/or adaptive.

General Education Is a school setting in the local neighborhood. Where students participate in the general education curriculum and other activities alongside classmates without disabilities.

Co-Teaching Is another full inclusion model, where general education and special education teachers team teach. They work together side by side and blend their expertise to modify the curriculum, and implement a variety of teaching strategies.

Teacher’s Aid (Paraprofessional) Supports the special education program. By supporting students with severe disabilities in general education classroom. They can be assigned to an individual student or to a classroom. They provided one to one assistance, assist with health care needs, or help target students with behavior management needs.

Partially Self-Contained Students attend a special education class for some part of the school day but is integrated into the general education activities and classroom for a considerable part of the day.

Related Services Occupational Therapy Related Services are additional supports that students need, which are given outside the general education and special education setting. Occupational Therapy is one of many related services. Its purpose is to help students improve muscular control and develop self help skills.

Vocational It is a program that provides training, counseling, and job placement services. Its program participants are mostly individuals with mental retardation. They are placed in non competitive work placements and are provided added support as needed. Typical jobs include but are not limited to janitorial, cafeteria, food delivery and more.

Home School Home schooling is another option, by which the parent/guardian educates the child are home. Parents who choose this, must still comply with state educational standards and must provide evidence of meeting the standards at home.

Residential A residential program is a boarding program, where the students live on the school grounds for a set period of time. These program vary in the population they serve. Most common schools are for the deaf or blind. However more schools are now targeting more populations. An example is the New York State Institute of Special Education. with programs for children ages 5-21.

Hospital When the circumstances occur that children need to be hospitalized for an extended set of time. Children with special needs can still receive all the services they would have received in there daily school environment.
