Safety Measures Wash Hands 1.Hand sanitizer 2.Use gloves Wash Dishes 1. Spoons 2.Forks 3. Plates 4.Glasses Kitchen should be clean. 1.Cloth and towels should also be clean as well. 2.Hairnet could be used as well. Avoid Touching things 1)Face 2)Hair 3)Body 4)Light switch 5)Door handles

How to Prepare the food Temperature: Should be 40 degrees or cooler in the refrigerator. NEVER use your hands to sample the food. Always use a clean spoon when testing food.

Food borne Illnesses Poor cooking, poor storage, and not handling the food well enough can result in bacteria multiplying and causing illnesses. Parasites Viruses Chemicals Toxins These can also contaminate food and cause illnesses.

E. Coli E. Coli is a type of bacteria that lives in animals and humans. there is more thanone type of E. Coli, half of them are harmless. E. Coli can get trough food. It leaves on itself. Bruising Weakness Fever Pale skin Small amounts of urine. These are serious problems that E.Coli can cause.

Salmonella Found in intestines of birds, reptiles, and mammals. This bacteria can spread to humans from handling waste from infected animals or from eating undercooked meat, juice from raw meat, or other bad foods. Symptoms Fever Diarrhea Abdominal cramps. Salmonella can also weaken the immune system. This can even be life threatening.

Where food illnesses have occurred In Shelby Township there was an investigation on a food poisoning outbreak that happened at a Shelby Township banquet hall Club Monte Carlo. After leaving the hall, several people complained about vomiting and having diarrhea. Monte Carlo has been cited twice for critical violations during a January 12 inspection by the health department, one for food storage and separation issues. Club Monte Carlo -->

Two more places where food borne illnesses have occured. In 1993 E. coli spread through hamburger meat infecting 700 people and killing 4 people in 3 states. In Salmonella was detected in ice cream infecting an esimate of 224,000 people.

5 tips concerning the topic. Wash all of your vegetables. Always keep your kitchen clean. Handle food carefully. Store food in a cold place. Cook food throughly.
