 Parental Information & Resource Center (PIRC)  US Department of Education Grant  Began October 1, 2006  Ends September 30, 2011  At least one funded in each state & every U.S. Territory  Two in FL, NY, CA, MO, & CO FL PIRC

Parent Notification  School districts in Florida are required to notify parents about the PIRCs.  A sample letter is available online at the Partnership website.

Implement research-based parent involvement policies, programs and activities that promote student achievement. FL PIRC GOAL 1

GOAL 2 Provide high quality training, information and support services statewide to school districts on parent involvement that improves student academic achievement. FL PIRC

GOAL 3 Coordinate, collaborate and network statewide with appropriate community, State and Federal resources to inform parents about NCLB. FL PIRC

Purpose The mission of the Florida Parental Information and Resource Center (PIRC) at the University of South Florida is to build capacity by increasing effective interactions with schools, school districts and families in Florida.

Menu of Activities  Provide MAPPS (Math And Parent Partnerships) training for school district personnel - grades K-12.  Offer a Research to Practice Symposium each year.

Menu of Activities  Train teachers on TIPS (Teachers Involving Parents in School Work).  Assist Districts with writing the Family Involvement section of the School Improvement Plan and other policies.

Menu of Activities  Establish Regional Family Involvement Professional Learning Communities.  Conduct C.L.A.S.S. (Church Leaders Assuring Student Success) Trainings.

Menu of Activities  Provide Parent Involvement workshops, materials and information to school districts for use in their programs.
