2 Timothy 3:16-17

 2 Tim 3:16-17 – All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine [teaching], for reproof [convincing], for correction [correcting], for instruction [training] in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.  If a worship practice is not found in the Scripture then we cannot say that it was "inspired of God".

 Rainbow (Gen 9:12-17; 2 Pet 3:5-7) – God will never again flood the earth against evil.  Passover (Exo 12:14, 26-27; 13:3-10) – God delivered Israel from Egypt.  Sabbath (Deut 5:12-15; Exo 20:8-11; Heb 4:9- 10) – God created in 6-days, He rested, He promised eternal rest in Christ.

 …add virtues to our character (2 Pet 1:12-15)  …false teachers are in the church (2 Pet 3:1)  …we can fall from grace (Jude 5)  …many will depart the faith (1 Tim 4:1-6)  …not to strive or argue (2 Tim 2:14)  …be subject to rulers & authorities (Titus 3:1)  …baptism is a death, burial & resurrection like unto Jesus (Rom 6:3-4; Col 2:11-13)  …Jesus was born of a virgin (Matt 1; Luke 2)

 1 Cor 11:23-26 – For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread; 24 & when He had given thanks, He broke it & said, "Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me." 25 In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me." 26 For as often as you eat this bread & drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death till He comes.

 1 Cor 15:1-4 – Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received & in which you stand, 2 by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you — unless you believed in vain. 3 For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 & that He was buried, & that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures...

Archbishop Chrysostom (A.D. 386)?  The All Sufficient Scripture is silent regarding a memorial to Christ’s birth.  We are not to add to the Scripture (1 Cor 4:6; Col 3:17; 2 Pet 1:3; 2 John 9)!

 Jesus went to the Feast of Dedication  But He went to teach (John 10:22-39)  Paul allows individual liberty (Rom 14:5-6)  Personal liberties are not to become church practices (Gal 4:9-11)

But the greatest demonstration of God’s love for man was understood at His death. (John 3:16-17; Rom 5:8-9)
