Combine sentences using a relative pronoun Very cold weather closed school for a day. The cold weather came down from Canada. Combined with which: Very cold weather which came down from Canada closed school for a day.

Relative clause DEFINING NON-DEFINING

Defining relative clauses these clauses give essential information to define or identify the person or thing we are talking about. 1.The man who you met yesterday was my brother. 2.The film is about a man whose children are kidnapped 3.This is the book which I wanted. 4.The man (who/ whom / that) I saw at the party is Janet's father

Non-defining relative clauses The information in these clauses is not essential. It tells us more about someone or something, but it does not help us to identify them or it.
