The Rise of Nationalism U.S. History Ch. 7

Bell Ringer  Bell Ringer: What is "Nationalism"? On a scale of 1-10 (1 being low and 10 being high) where do you think Nationalism in America is today? Explain why.

Objectives  Objective: #1 - The students will explain how prior world events influenced "Nationalism" in America.  #2 - The students will describe the relationships America had with other national powers and analyze how it helped shape our growing country.

Evidence of understanding After reading, all student should be able to explain:  how nationalism increased because of the War of  the steps the U.S. took to prevent further conflict with Great Britain.  why Spain ceded (gave) Florida to the U.S.  how the Monroe Doctorine influenced the United States' growth.  how the U.S. map has changed. Homework: - Finish reading Ch. 7 Sec. 1
