Submission doc.: IEEE /0023r0 Numbering Alignment Process Update from all published standards. Posted as /1149r25 (2013 Jan 8) is numbering baseline. 11ac goes first, then 11af, 11ah, 11ai. TG editor will be responsible for ensuring their column represents their latest draft WG editor will update any “changes pending” columns and summarize status to editors Slide 9 Peter Ecclesine (Cisco Systems) January 2013
Submission doc.: IEEE /0023r0 Amendment & other ordering notes Editors define publication order independent of working group public timelines: –Since official timeline is volatile and moves around –Publication order helps provide stability in amendment numbering, figures, clauses and other numbering assignments –Editors are committed to maintain a rational publication order Numbering spreadsheet /1149: –Succeeding amendments to do their respective updates –Must match the official timeline after plenaries Slide 10Peter Ecclesine (Cisco Systems) January 2013

Submission doc.: IEEE /0023r Style Guide See wg11-style-guide.doc –We updated WG Style Guide based on 2012 IEEE Standards Style Manual and consistency changes in final publication of the standard Editor’s responsibility includes checking the 2012 IEEE Standards Style Manual when creating or updating drafts. c/mytools/draft/styleman.pdf c/mytools/draft/styleman.pdf Submissions with draft text should conform to both the WG11 Style Guide and IEEE Standards Style Manual Note that the Style Guide evolves with our practice Slide 12Peter Ecclesine (Cisco Systems) January 2013
Submission doc.: IEEE /0023r Styles Need to be aware that we actually have two styles, each relating to a baseline doc. Amendments must follow style in their baseline, and not try and fix quoted text in their baseline to change its editorial style. Example is the numbering of NOTES, which is likely to change from per-contiguous-sequence to per- subclause in REVmc. January 2013 Peter Ecclesine (Cisco Systems)Slide 13
Submission doc.: IEEE /0023r0 Learnings from 11ad publication The publication editor decided to convert to Frame for publication, which meant a lot of work from the TG editor to check that stuff hadn’t been changed. Also there’s a lot of equations in some Microsoft-based equation object. These will need to be reworked into Frame on roll- in, which creates possibility of introducing errors. My personal conclusion is that we should allow non- Frame only if: –Short document –No equations January 2013 Peter Ecclesine (Cisco Systems)Slide 14

Submission doc.: IEEE /0023r0 MIB style, Visio and Frame practices I’m going to suggest going forward we use a single style with appropriately set tabs, and use leading Tabs to distinguish the syntax and description parts. (Adrian Stephens Feb 9, 2010) Keep embedded figures using visio as long as possible –Near the end of sponsor ballot, turn these all into.wmf (windows meta file) format files (you can do this from visio using “save as”). Keep separate files for the.vsd source and the.wmf file that is linked to from frame. Frame templates for 11aa, 11ac, 11af Text version of MIB will be available before end of March (2012, ae2012, aa2012, ad2012) January 2013 Peter Ecclesine (Cisco Systems)Slide 18
