1 Regulations, Policies and Standards Drive Green Decent Jobs Dr. LI Tienan Director of China Standard Certification Center Vice-Chairman of ISO/TC176

2 The government enable the conditions by enforce the necessary legislation, provide incentive policies, develop and implement related standards to promote Green Growth --- This will result more green jobs; The regulations, policies and standards will serve as a road map and target to promoting energy efficiency, new and renewable energy, eco-efficiency, restriction of hazardous substances, eco-design of energy-using products, resources conversation, recycling economy, cleaning production, environment management and energy management, etc; Take Green Standards and Labeling (Green S&L) programme as an example to show how the relevant regulations, policies and standards drive green jobs. Government interventions

3 Green S&L, such as Energy-efficiency, Eco, Carbon footprint, RoSH/EuP, environment management system, energy management system, etc. The Green S&L can target product and/or an entire entity and will facilitate/improve green products and green entity. As a cost-effective policy, Green S&L programmes are widely adopted and being harmonized among countries and ISO also contributes it’s effort to initiate green concept and facilitate cooperation and harmonization on Green S&L programmes. Green S&L Programmes

4 Green Labels Each Green labeling programme will be in line with a set of green standards And More Labels

5 Promotion and Education All stakeholders (policy makers, manufacturers, consumers, retailers and others) involve in Green S&L programmes development and implementation by promotion and education motivation.

6 Manufacturers Participate in Green S&L Programmes Manufactures will develop and improve more green technologies, design and produce more green products, conduct more green projects, etc.

7 Roles of Green S&L Programmes Improve awareness Green S&L More needs and requirements Green technologies/facilities development and renovation More green products and green entities More and more people will work at “Green Field”
