Presentation transcript:

Tips for choosing the best magnetic knee braces Knees form an important part of the human anatomy as they bear the burden of the human body and due to any unforeseen circumstances or situations, disease these knees may suffer from injury/pain. Knee pain is usually caused by trauma, misalignment and degeneration in addition to medical conditions like arthritis. The patellofemoral syndrome is the most common knee disorder. The minor cases of knee pain can be treated at home with rest or by using the knee braces /knee supports or kneepads. However, injuries that are more serious require surgical treatment and care. The knee braces or knee supports have emerged as the primary protective gear to address several physical conditions of the knee and to prevent knee related problems in these past decades. Theses braces are now a prominent fixture in sports medicine, especially with injured athletes or sports persons. There also exist magnetic knee braces that have of late become popular. These braces consist of magnets as a material that is used in alternative therapy to provide pain relief and promote healing to the wearer. The use of magnets to heal pain is an ancient therapy, mostly followed by Greeks. Even though, its effectiveness remains scientifically unproven but random accounts and individual experiences seem to work for those using magnetic knee braces.magnetic knee braces

As per the alternative medicine theory magnets aligns the molecules of blood by acting directly on the iron in the blood to improve its circulation. According to the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NACM) – A branch of the National Institute of Health in the United States of America, magnets are generally harmless, even though surgeons do not recommend magnets to be used by people with heart pacemakers or defibrillators as they may impair the functioning of these devices. The best magnetic knee braces are those that primarily fit safely to support the ligaments and muscles in and around the knee.magnetic knee braces A tight fit would also improve blood circulation, but care should be taken that the knee brace is not too tight. These braces are reported to help soothe any aches and pains that the wearer may be feeling. The magnetic knee braces usually consist of a number of magnets mostly 12 in numbers that are placed in a strategic manner within the neoprene material in the brace. These braces come in different sizes such as small, medium, large and extra-large. Majority of magnetic knee braces models have features such as hook and loop straps to ensure a tight fit and some of these braces are made from materials that are naturally snug enough to provide a good fit. Irrespective of the model or type of these braces, the wearer should ensure that brace fits comfortably underneath their pants as too much of the bulky model can end up restricting the movement and making the movement of normal legs quite difficult. The cost of magnetic knee braces may be higher as compared with other types of knee braces. Nevertheless, the person should consult a physician before trying on these braces, as the doctor may be able to recommend other options of treatment.
