Our Ethos Each student should feel valued and supported. They should feel that their form teacher in particular, is personally interested in their progress and aspirations. We aim to achieve a high degree of communication between staff, students and also parents. The Sixth form team consider Attendance, Punctuality and the Dress Code to be important.

Our successes 89% of our students who wanted to go to University did so Other students took Higher Level Apprenticeships and went straight into employment with training.

ALIS ALIS is a target setting system based at Durham University. Used by over a third of all sixth form providers to calculate subject specific and up to date targets for both AS and A2 level subjects based on a students GCSE average score.

Why do we use ALIS? It gives students some idea of what they could achieve with hard work It gives students something to aim at (as a minimum expectation or a standard to beat!) It allows students to monitor their progress against a realistic standard. It allows teachers to monitor student progress against potential and so pick up problems sooner rather than later. It gives parents some idea of the minimum grades that should be expected in Y12 and Y13

What can I do to help? Encourage your son/daughter to use the study facilities at school Library Study room Hub

Students should be here EVERY DAY from 8.40 am and stay until lunch time at 1.40pm Provide letters to cover absences Encourage Community Service – vital to enhance CVs with extra activities Provide suitable place for home study – 5 hours per subject per week! When they say they have no homework they should be doing wider reading and research

What can I do to help? Stage 2 - monitoring focus report with Head of Year or Department – contact home – for failure to meet targets set in Stage 1 Stage 3 – monitoring by Head of Year and meeting with parents/carers and meeting with parents. Stage 4 – Meeting between Head of Sixth Form and parents/carers to consider future on courses at Bishop Ramsey.

Plain knit Jumper /cardigan or Suit jacket If tights are worn they should be plain. Black/ Charcoal Grey/Navy or Dark Brown leather or leather look shoes (no boots or canvas shoes). Summer sandals may be worn – no flip-flop styles.

Sixth Form Dress Code Hair, Make-up and jewellery should all be appropriate for school. Facial piercings and unnatural hair colours are never appropriate. Lanyards must be worn at all times.

16-19 Bursary Fund Letters to go out in the maildrop this Thursday. The school can award discretionary bursaries to any student that is facing genuine financial barriers to participating.
