What Is Bullying? How Can We Stop It? How are YOU going to help reduce bullying in OUR school?

The Competition… For the next two weeks as a school we are running an anti-bullying competition. As a form make a list and think about how you could stop bullying within school. Currently we have the following initiatives within school to help stop bullying; sixth form mentors, anti-bullying , anti-bullying box, PSHE and collective worships.

… PLEDGE – You could create and design a pledge within your form to state what you will do in order to tackle bullying within school. You could make a pledge as a form or in small groups within your form creating a pledge board. POEM – You could create a poem within your form. In small groups you should write sections of the poem and join them together to create a form anti-bullying poem which will be displayed around school. POLICY – As a form you can write an anti-bullying policy stating what we do as a school to tackle bullying. This policy will be displayed on the school website and the house newspapers for all students, parents and guardians to see.

Play… You could produce a play/video performance portraying the importance of anti-bullying therefore highlighting why it is essential we follow the school rules against bullying. Have a look at the YouTube video which was made by school children to help tackle bullying.

Pledge Ideas… You could design a pledge certificate for different forms to sign stating what you ‘will’ do as individuals to take a stand against bullying.

Poem Ideas… You could create a poem within your form. In small groups you could write sections of the poem and join them together to create a form anti-bullying poem.

Policy Ideas… You could decide to write an anti-bullying policy for our school. The policy will be displayed on the school website and in the houses newspapers for all students, parents and guardians to see. Here is an example of a behaviour policy which states how the students are expected to behave and what will happen if they do not behave in the correct way. For an anti- bullying policy you could think about what we do as a school and what the consequences of not following the actions may be.

How to enter the competition… Ensure that your entries are given to Miss Stringfellow by Friday 4 th March You can also e mail your entry to Your entries must have your name and form written clearly on them. The winner of the competition will be announced week beginning 7 th March.
