DISTILLATION

Distillation is a method of separting mixtures based on differences in volatility of components in a boiling liquid mixture.

It is a PHYSICAL SEPARATION PROCESS

Laboratory apparatuses used for distillation.

There are different types of DISTILLATION DISTILLATION Simple Distillation Fractional Distillation Steam Distillation Vacuum distillation Air-sensitive vacuum distillation Short path distillation Zone distillation

There are several applications of distillation. Separate CRUDE OIL (transport, power generation, heating) Separate AIR (oxygen, nitrogen, argon) for industrial use FERMENTED SOLUTIONS to produce DISTILLED BEVERAGES with higher alcohol content
