Rainforest I. Rainforests cover six percent of the Earth’s Surface. There are rain forests in many parts of the world. The biggest forests are in South America, Africa and South East Asia. There are not any forests in Europe. About 75% of all types of animals that we know come from rainforests. There are very many beautiful birds, insects and reptiles. Many of them live in the trees over 30 meters from the ground.

II. There are also thousands of different plants, lots of tall trees. It is always hot and wet in a rainforest. The rainforests are very important because the trees and other plants help to make the air that we breathe. They also help to control the weather. They give us food, rubber, fruits and many of our medicines. Scientists discovered that plants and trees in the rainforests have valuable drugs that can be used to cure cancer and other diseases.

III. Azerbaijan is rich in forests. They are in Sheki, Zakatala, Guba, Khachmaz, Ismailly, Lenkoran and Qarabag. There are a lot of rare trees there, such as oak, beech, horn-beam, iron-tree, box-tree and others. It is a pity our beautiful Garabag forests are under occupation of enemies. Armenians are cutting down the rare trees and carrying them from the Topkhana forest.

All of the products made from trees create many more jobs. Wood is used to make paper. Sap, the liquid that flows in trees, is used in maple syrup, chewing gum, crayons, paints, and soap. Bark is used to make dyes and medicines. Flowers, leaves, and roots provide oils for cosmetics, medicines, and tea. Food (fruits like apples, pears, peaches, and cherries; nuts like walnuts and hazelnuts) Shade-to help keep people and homes cool. Beauty and public green areas (parks, campgrounds) Trees block the wind, making it easier to warm houses and other buildings. Benefits to Animals Home for animals (birds, squirrels,insects). Protection from enemies and bad weather. Provide food (fruits, nuts, leaves, bark, and roots). Even dead trees provide shelter and food for insects.
