WHAT ARE EXCHANGES AND THEIR BENEFITS? The U.S. Department of State sponsors multiple non-degree programs for educational, cultural, and professional exchanges across the world Participants acquire or further develop: valuable academic and professional skills a new academic and professional network leadership skills personal enrichment a greater understanding of the complexities of the world around them new knowledge of foreign cultures and strengthening of international relationships

U.S.-FUNDED ACADEMIC EXCHANGES FOR BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA High-school, undergraduate, graduate, post-graduate, and professional level exchanges Most fields of study are eligible. Participants study, conduct research, teach, or pursue combined university teaching and research at U.S. institutions Length varies: one academic semester to a full academic year Scholarships are open, merit-based, awarded competitively, and are subject to availability of funds

GENERAL SELECTION CRITERIA Academic achievement A compelling project proposal and/or statement of purpose Leadership potential, flexibility, and adaptability to successfully interact with the American host university and community Willingness and ability to improve conditions in your community and home country upon return Finalists for most programs are required to have valid TOEFL scores; the test is free of charge for finalists! GLOBAL UNDERGRADUATE EXCHANGE PROGRAM (GLOBAL UGRAD) One-semester scholarships for non-degree, full-time study at accredited four-year institutions of higher education in the United States, combined with community service, professional development workshops, and cultural enrichment activities First year university enrollees: submit official copies of your high school transcripts. FULBRIGHT OVERVIEW The Fulbright Program operates in over 160 countries worldwide Approximately 8,000 grants are awarded annually Since its inception in 1946 approximately 360,000 “Fulbrighters” have participated in the program Fulbright alumni serve in leadership positions in government, academia, business, the arts, science, journalism, and other professional fields and are the recipients of 53 Nobel Prizes among other prestigious awards

FULBRIGHT FOREIGN STUDENT PROGRAM Intended for independent library and/or field research toward a Master's or PhD degree Students establish professional contacts in their field, enhance their scholarly work, and gain international experience, and personal enrichment Apply online for the academic year by June 5, 2016

FULBRIGHT VISITING SCHOLAR PROGRAM Provides individual grants to conduct post-doctoral research, lecture, or pursue combined lecturing and research at U.S. institutions, from an academic semester to a full academic year The online application window for the academic year opens on October 1, 2016

HUBERT H. HUMPHREY FELLOWSHIP (A FULBRIGHT EXCHANGE ACTIVITY) Brings accomplished professionals from designated countries around the world to the United States at a midpoint in their careers for a year of graduate-level academic course work and professional development activities Apply online for the academic year by July 3, 2016
