Welcome to Fitness id Fun!!!! Welcome to Fitness is Fun!!!!!!! Fulwood St Peter’s C.E. School

What’s Next…. We are having meetings with our classes and taking ideas. These ideas are to help our teachers plan and choose new activities for us to get involved in. A lot of my friends want to play rugby. So I will be mentioning that at the next meeting of the School Council. Charlie School Council.

How we changed our lives. At the end of the summer we were all asked to discuss in our classes what we liked and didn’t like about PE and sports in school and when we are at home. The school council went to a meeting with some of the teachers and they came back with a voting chart. We had to decide what sports we would like to try. I wanted to try football because I had seen it on television and I hoped that everyone would want to try it.

What happened in September… We had lots of assemblies about eating healthy. We made packed lunches that were good for us. Then we looked at how to keep our bodies fit. Sian came and showed us what a poorly heart looked like and also told us how to make our hearts well. She said that it was a muscle that needed exercise. (this we talked about more as a School Council – How can we encourage everyone to try sport and become healthy) Our teachers and School Council had a meeting and then we had a chance of being able to take part in football. We all got letters to take home about a special football day in school. (Yr2)

Football is great fun !! I joined football our coach was a lady she was called Emma we learnt skills about team work, passing, kicking and I scored a goal. We played crab football and I thought it was great fun. (Hayley ) Lots of my friends came to and my mum is letting me go to the club on a Saturday morning. (Daniel infants)

Why I enjoyed football? I was amazed to see that the football coach was a lady and she enjoyed her sport and looked well. I decided to try football after the tastier day on our healthy schools day. I was worried that my friends might think I wasn’t fun to be with, but when we talked a lot of us wanted to join in. We have had a lot of fun and learnt a lot of new skills. We have joined the football club as well and we now play with the boys at break times. I hope there is a team for girls at high school? ( Yr 6 girls)

Awards!! On the last day I won a trophy for all my hard work and effort. I brought it into school and I shared it with everyone in our Special Achievement. I got to sit on the sofa and tell everyone about it. My trophy is special to me. (Olivia Year One) I would say Yes to football !

What else is happening ? We have had lots of healthy theme days. In different classes we have tasted lots of different foods. On these days our teachers have made them fun as well because we have been doing a lot more exercise. We have found out about healthy heroes and taken part in activities. Some children have taken home activities to share with their mums and dads.

Skipping Skipping has been fun and also I know it is a good way to exercise my heart. At playtimes we have some ropes to play with as well.

Helping Others!!! We like to help others in our school. During Lent we are collecting any 2p, 5p or 1p and these are going to help our school to buy a special machine to help people if they stop breathing. We have also taken part in a sponsored skip for ten minutes and the money is going to help Heartbeat, the British Heart Foundation and Sports Relief. This was great fun and we helped others as well.

Sponsored Skip Day. After practising lots at home and in school we all got to take part. We had some fun music to skip to and we collected money to help others. In our assembly we were told not to ask people we don’t know. So we asked our mums and dads, grandma’s and grandad's and I asked my aunty as well. (Year 2 taking part)

Extra–Curricular Sports. We have a cheer leading club on a Monday evening and we get to put a dance together and then we share our routine at the end of every half term and this helps me to keep fit and also spend time with my friends. Mr. Simpson is our football coach and he also enters us for team events such as swimming galas, cross country runs and lots of other sporting events.

Special Achievements. On Friday’s we have an assembly which is about celebrating all the good things that have happened in that week. Our teachers share good news and if we are chosen we sit on the sofa and get a special badge and certificate. At the end of our assemblies children get to share their awards from outside of school. Last week we had swimming, dance, football and rugby. The teacher always asks how others could get involved as well. It’s nice to see our friends get certificates.
