An indirect object is a part of speech that RECEIVES the indirect action of the verb. Typically you can ask “to whom / for whom” to find the IOP of the sentence. PLEASE NOTE: ** In French, indirect objects ALWAYS have “ à ” in front of the noun. **

Examples in English: I’m writing to my cousin. Did you talk to John? He gave flowers to Laura. She showed her pictures to me. I loaned $10 to Justin. INDIRECT OBJECT PRONOUNS

Indirect object pronouns are placed in FRONT of the verb of which they are the object. They follow the same rules of placement as other object pronouns.Exemples: Je parle à Sylvie.  Je lui parle. Il téléphone à Luc et Laurent.  Il leur téléphone. Marie écrit aux enfants.  Elle leur écrit.
