Value Quiz Wednesday, you can use your notes if you have any…

1. An element of art that means the darkness or lightness of a surface.

2. Using value makes art work look more realistic & 3D. 3. “3D” Three Dimensional – art work that can be measured 3 ways - height, width, depth.

4. To make an object look round, shade the side away from the light source darker and gradually shade lighter as you move toward the light source.

5. Values or shadows put under objects in a drawing or painting give the objects weight.

6.To make a flat surface look as though it recedes (goes back) into the distance, use darker value in the background and gradually use lighter value in the foreground. (the part that seems closest to you).

* This can be reversed.
