Benefits at

Who are we? Sport Wales is the national organisation responsible for developing and promoting sport and physical activity in Wales. We aim to get every child hooked on sport for life in Wales and to build a nation of champions. At Sport Wales our biggest assets are our staff. In order to recruit, retain and engage the very best people, we have developed an attractive reward and benefits package that reflects Sport Wales’ status as an employer of choice. We believe in continually reviewing what we have to offer, in order to provide benefits which are truly valuable to our employees. What can Sport Wales offer you? Competitive salary Sport Wales has incremental salary scales, and on the anniversary of your start date, you will move to the next point of the salary scale dependent upon satisfactory performance. In addition, where possible, a cost of living increase may be payable from 1 April each year. In addition, relevant shift and unsocial hours allowances are provided where irregular working patterns are a requirement of the role. Defined benefit pension scheme You may elect to join the Cardiff and Vale of Glamorgan Local Government Pension Scheme. Your contributions will range from 5.5% to 9.9% according to your salary level, and in addition to your contributions Sport Wales will also contribute 20.2% of your pensionable salary towards the scheme.

Continued… Scottish Widows - auto-enrolment pension scheme If you don’t want to pay the Local Government Pension Scheme contribution, you will be automatically enrolled in our Scottish Widows auto-enrolment plan where a 1% contribution attracts a Sport Wales contribution of 6.5%. Holiday entitlement You will receive 28 days on entry rising to 33 days after 5 years’ continuous service plus all statutory bank holidays. In addition, employees may purchase up to 3 days additional annual leave. Free on-site parking Sport Wales has car parks at each of its locations, free for staff to use. Use of facilities Employees have free use of Sport Wales’ fitness facilities, including gym and court use. You will also benefit from reduced rates for fitness classes (e.g. Aerobics and Circuits) at the National Centre, and reduced rates for courses at Plas Menai National Watersports Centre. Training and development Sport Wales is committed to investing in the training and development of our employees to ensure that they have the skills required to carry out their duties to a high standard and add value to the organisation. We are currently operating a CMI accredited Leadership and Management programme for all of our employees, and have a long- term training scheme where payments can be made through salary sacrifice to offer tax relief.

Continued… Mobile phone allowance Where a role requires an employee to work out of the office on Sport Wales’ business, suitable computer equipment will be made available for them to work remotely. To compensate employees who may be required to use their own mobile phone for business purposes, Sport Wales will provide an allowance of £25.00 per person per month. Discounted accommodation and meals Accommodation at the Sport Wales National Centre or at Plas Menai National Watersports Centre is available to all staff at a discounted rate, as are meals and drinks, available at either of these locations.

The price for this advice will be below their normal market rates and the first 30 minute interview on any legal matter (except employment) would be FREE.

Family Friendly Benefits Childcare Vouchers Childcare vouchers are a tax initiative designed to help working parents save money on their registered childcare costs. This is done by reducing the tax and National Insurance contributions (NIC) you have to pay from your gross salary, and can help save up to £933 per parent for basic rate tax payers. Holiday Scheme This scheme gives you the opportunity to supplement your existing annual leave entitlement. Sport Wales recognises the growing demands placed on employees to try and achieve a work-life balance. A maximum of 3 days’ annual leave entitlement (pro rata for part time employees) can be bought and used per annual leave year (April to March).

Bike scheme The Government’s Green Transport Plan allows you to get a bike and pay No Income Tax, No National Insurance and No VAT. You are able to spend up to £1,000 on the scheme., including buying necessary accessories and equipment to ensure that you are safe when riding to work. Charitable Giving Charitable Giving is an easy and tax-efficient way for employees to give to their favourite charities. Your donations are deducted straight from your gross salary, giving you immediate tax relief. For example, a monthly donation of £5 will cost you £3.90 as the charity receives an extra £1.10 in tax which would have been paid to the Treasury and your favourite charities will receive regular, unrestricted income.
