Fort Hays State University Wellness & Fitness Active Tigers Fitbit & Fitness Program

 Mission The mission of the Active Tiger Fitbit & Fitness Program is to provide Fort Hays State University faculty and staff the opportunity to enhance and improve their quality of life by providing desired fitness programs using the Fitbit device and other wellness programs.

 Overview of Programs As a faculty or staff member of Fort Hays State University, you have the opportunity to participate in either of the following programs to earn Health Quest Rewards. The Tiger Wellness Center at Fort Hays State University is giving you the opportunity to join the Active Tiger Fitbit Program or the Active Tiger Fitness Program. The purpose behind these programs is to help motivate and provide accountability towards a healthier YOU. As well as rewarding your efforts!

 Active Tiger Fitbit Program Being an active member of the Fitbit program will require regular use of the device and meeting monthly goals to stay eligible for the Health Quest Rewards Program. The program will follow the University’s semester (fall/spring) timeline. The participants must complete six-months of the Fitbit program to earn Health Quest Rewards. This will include the fall semester months of September, October and November and the spring semester months of February, March and April.

 Active Tiger Fitbit program- Requirements The Fitbit zip device tracks certain measurements as activity takes place during the day. The data is then synced to the Fitbit connect software. This program will focus on achieving specific numbers for the following measurements. The measurements consist of: STEPS DISTANCE TOTAL ACTIVE MINUTES To be eligible for Health Quest Rewards, the participant must meet the criteria for one of the three measurements.

 Active Tiger Fitbit Program- Requirements cont. The criteria for the measurements are as follows. Must achieve 1 out of 3 each month. Steps: 180,000 in a month (6,000 per day) Miles: 45 miles in a month (1.5 per day) Active Minutes: 300 minutes in a month (10 per day) If you happen to miss a month of meeting the Fitbit measurement criteria, you have the following options to stay eligible for Health Quest Rewards.

 Active Tiger Fitbit Program – Staying eligible Complete 2 out of the 3 measurements in one month- Steps: 180,000 in a month (6,000 per day) Miles: 45 miles in a month (1.5 per day) Active Minutes: 300 minutes in a month (10 per day) Earn 10 pts by participating in any of the wellness or fitness events below. Wellness events Fitness Assessment -10pts set up an assessment through the Tiger Wellness Center. Educational Seminars (2 per semester, each seminar is 5pts each, could accumulate a total of 10pts)- Attendance at 1=5pts Fitness events Attend Group Fitness Classes -3pts (=3pts for each class attended) Workout in Tiger Wellness Center-2pts (=2pts for each visit) Complete an area race (5K, Triathlon etc.-proof of participation required). 5pts

 Active Tiger Fitness Program There are several wellness and fitness related events on campus that you can attend to become eligible for Health Quest Rewards. To earn credit toward your Health Quest Rewards you must participate in the following events and meet the requirements.

 Active Tiger Fitness-Requirements The wellness and fitness events will be based on accumulating 30 total points per semester and will follow the University semester (fall/spring) timeline. (participation will be tracked through tiger link). Wellness events Fitness Assessment -10pts set up an assessment through the Tiger Wellness Center. Educational Seminars (2 per semester, each seminar is 5pts each, could accumulate a total of 10pts)- Attendance at 1=5pts Fitness events Attend Group Fitness Classes -3pts (=3pts for each class attended) Workout in Tiger Wellness Center-2pts (=2pts for each visit) Complete an area race (5K, Triathlon etc.-proof of participation required). 5pts

 Guidelines To stay eligible and to earn Health Quest Rewards points, one must follow and complete the requirements of the programs. 5- Health Quest Reward points can be earned each semester.
