Presentation transcript:

You are now ready to add the cardboard tube. Ask your teacher for help when lining this up with the balloon. Draw around the end and get your teacher to begin the cut with a craft knife, before finishing off the job with your scissors. Pupil Work Stage 5:

Remember to always hold the object that you are cutting firmly and be mindful of any harm that you could cause to yourself or to others. Push the cardboard tube firmly into the hole that you have created, until it will not go any further. You may need to adjust this in order to move the tube (to become the neck) to the angle that you want it to be at. See the next slide to understand why.

If you lean the balloon far back from the neck, your creature will be looking up. If you really push the small end of the balloon downwards towards the cardboard tube (the neck), it will look directly ahead.

In order to speed things up, you could use a hot glue gun during stages like this, but remember: keep the glue under control! Just as you used a lot of glue paste to cover the balloon, use plenty of this to paper Mache the balloon to the cardboard tube.
