Infrastructure and DCS Presentation of the Infrastructure Controls aspect in the ALICE DCS Based on U ser R equirements D ocument …you should still know my name...

Introduction A URD is being drafted for “Infrastructure” 1 st attempt to define what “Infrastructure” should cover – very preliminary “Infrastructure” seen as a “detector” in the DCS architecture Needed to operate ALICE at point 2 Collects data for monitoring and archiving Providing status information of infrastructure mechanisms to other parts of DCS

Introduction

Aspects of Cooling and Ventilation Primary Cooling and Ventilation –Under ST/CV responsibility –Data exchange via DIP –Temperature, Pressure, Flow, Status –Monitoring, archiving (PVSS II) ALICE common cooling –Needs to be defined more precisely

Cooling, Ventilation and AC Cooling and Ventilation / AC Primary Cooling Status ALICE Common Cooling VentilationCooling MixedDeminChilled ALICE Specific cooling tasks ReadoutRes. Rod ….. ALICE Detector Cooling Cooling and Ventilation / AC ?

Cooling and Ventilation work done: Stepped into Contact with responsible people Launched first discussions Started to draft the URD

Environmental & Site Parameters Pure monitoring and archiving (PVSS II) No interlocks foreseen Temperatures, humidity, atmospheric pressure, radiation (if done by TIS, to be transferred via DIP) Under ALICE DCS responsibility Parameters from all zones at P2: SG2, SX2, CR1-4, PLU, UX Simple measurement devices or sensors connected to available PLC inputs

Environmental & Site Parameters Environmental & Site Param. SX2SG2 CR1 UX …….. …. Temperature Humidity Radiation Atm. Pressure Temperature Humidity Radiation Atm. Pressure Temperature Humidity Radiation Atm. Pressure Temperature Humidity Radiation Atm. Pressure

Environmental & Site Parameters work done: Launched first discussions Started to draft URD Searching for suitable measuring devices

Access Underground area –Monitor access Counting room –Monitor access Access Underground area Counting room Access status

Network and Communication Monitoring of LAN - and Fieldbus status Needs to be defined Network and Communication LANFieldbus Status

Conclusions Leads to a successful project Only communication and information transfer between the involved people and groups
