First woman to cross the Atlantic

Amelia’s Childhood Amelia was brave - when she was young she was sledding and she went under a horse! Amelia saw her first airplane at the Iowa State Fair when she was 11 years old. Amelia was born in Kansas in 1897.

Facts Amelia began taking flying lessons. She bought her first plane in In 1932 she crossed the Atlantic alone. In 1935 she crossed the Pacific – Hawaii to California. In 1937 she began her flight around the Equator. She vanished 2/3 around the world in the Pacific Ocean.

After Amelia Became a Famous Pilot She became a fashion designer and a book writer. She wrote two books - For The Fun Of It and The Last Flight.
