Presentation transcript:

How many of you know how to make an origami crane?

Paper was invented in china in 105 C.E. It was then brought to Japan by monks in the sixth century. Japan made it so that folding paper would only be for ceremonial purposes. By the Edo period it became an art with cuts and folds. This is how origami started. How Origami Started

Origami can used to calm someone down. Others do it to entertain their selves. Other people might use it for decoration. These are some ways to use origami for. Origami Uses

1. Start with square piece of paper. 2. Fold top corner in half to bottom corner. 3. Fold the triangle in half. 4. Take the top flap and open it. 5. Turn paper over and do the same thing again. 6. Lift the left flap up so it stands vertically. 7. Grab the left and right side of the flap and open it up. 8. Take both sides of the top layer and fold them in to meet at the middle, then unfold. 9. Open the flap upwards. 10. Fold the left and right sides inward. Steps 1-10

11. Flip it over and repeat steps Take the upper layer of both sides and fold the lower parts into the center. Likee you see in the picture. Step 11-12

13. Turn the paper over and do the same thing to the other side. 14. Take the right flap and fold it over to the left. 15. Flip the whole piece over and do step 13 on the other side. 16. Take the bottom flap and fold it over to the top like you see in the picture. Steps 13-16

Steps Flip the paper over and do the same thing to the other side. 18. Take the top layer of the right flap and fold it over to the left. 19. Flip it over and do the same thing to the other side. 20. Just like you see in the picture diagram, take the left and right pieces underneath the top flap and pull them apart.

21. Take one of those pieces that you pulled apart, and slightly open the top. Corner so that you can bend a portion of it down to form the head. 22. Bend the wings at a 90 degree angle and CONGRATULATIONS you have made your origami crane. Steps 20 & 21

Pieces of paper can be used to make many origami things that you probably didn’t know about now you know about them. Conclusion
