 Eye dominance: the tendency to prefer visual input from one eye over that of another  Most people have one eye that is more dominant that the other  Often it corresponds to a person’s dominant hand, but sometimes it does not EYE DOMINANCE

To determine your dominant eye, place your fingers into the form of a triangle and extend your arms to their full length Whichever eye can be seen through the aperture is your dominant eye EYE DOMINANCE (CONTINUED)

ELEVEN STEPS TO ARCHERY SUCCESS

2) Place your feet shoulder width apart parallel to each other and perpendicular to the direction of the target STEP 1: STANCE

2) Pull your front foot back so that it is in line with the instep of your back foot STEP 1: STANCE (CONTINUED)

3) Open your front foot so that it makes a 45 degree angle with your back angle STEP 1: STANCE (CONTINUED)

1.With your draw hand, grasp the arrow beneath the fletchings with your thumb pointed down the shaft to the arrowhead 2.Lift the arrow up and over the upper limb, placing…  The front of the shaft on the arrow rest  And the nock of the arrow under the nocking point STEP 2: NOCK ARROW

Place the first three fingers of your draw hand on the serving under the nock of the arrow STEP 3: DRAW HAND SET

Incline the knuckles of your bow hand to a degree angle STEP 4: BOW HAND SET

Raise the bow, lifting your bow hand up at the shoulder STEP 5: PRE-DRAW

Pull your draw hand back toward your cheek bone, flexing the muscles in your back STEP 6: DRAW

Hold your draw hand in place at your cheek bone, anchoring your hand just beside the corner of your moth STEP 7: ANCHOR

Keeping both eyes open, aim the arrowhead toward the center of the target STEP 8: AIM

Pull your draw hand back still further, keeping your back muscles taught STEP 9: SHOT SET-UP

“Paint your face” with the fingers of your draw hand, dropping your hand toward your shoulder STEP 10: RELEASE

Keep your bow hand in place until the arrow has left the string STEP 11: FOLLOW THROUGH

SAFETY

1) Wait behind the waiting line until your group is called to “get bow” (2 whistles) ARCHERY RANGE

2) Wait behind the shooting line until your group is called to “shoot” (1 whistle) ARCHERY RANGE

3) Wait to “go get arrows” (3 whistles) until everyone is done shooting ARCHERY RANGE

4) One partner waits at the target line, while the other removes his or her arrows from the target ARCHERY RANGE

If your coach blows his or her whistle four or more times,  Return your arrow to the quiver  Set your bow down  And wait behind the waiting line EMERGENCY!!!
