Flash Introduction Adobe Flash –Introduced in 1996 from Macromedia –adds animation and interactivity to web pages –Advertisements in Flash are more interactive and attractive to the customer –Integrates video into web pages, and more recently, to develop rich Internet applications Adobe Flash Player –Web friendly player embedded in your browser or on your local machine that allows you to translate SWF files into flowing animations or games

Flash Formats Three main types of files associated with Adobe Flash –SWF (Shockwave Flash File) This is the published version of a Flash animation. This is the actual file that is embedded into the Web Page and will be played by the clients’ Adobe Flash Player. –FLA (Flash Authoring File) This is the largest in file size and contains the raw editing data of your Flash project. When you are satisfied with your FLA file, you publish it into a SWF file. –FLV (Flash Video File) Usually Embedded inside a SWF File played through a flv aware player, such as VLC, or QuickTime and Windows Media Player with external codecs added. Commonly auto constructed when importing video files into Adobe Flash.
