Echinoderms Octavio’s Book Echinoderms

Echinoderms are Invertebrates (no backbones)

The starfish or sea star are echinoderms

Echinoderms are marine animals

The crinoids and sea lilies are echinoderms

The body of the echinoderms is arranged in five parts around the central axis

The sea cucumber and sand dollar are echinoderms

Echinoderm’s bodies are covered with tough plates and spines

Echinoderms don’t have a brain.

They have a hydraulic system for locomotion and feeding

Many echinoderms have the power of regeneration..

…if a part is cut from the central mass it become a new animal

Some echinoderms have a star shape

like the basket star and the brittle star

other echinoderms have sphere shape

like the echinoids and sea urchins

There are more than 7,000 living species of Echinoderms
