What is a Transnational Company? (TNC) A company which has global operations – Employs in many different countries – Sells and harvests materials in different countries – No definite centre of operations Cohen and Kennedy 2007 – of the top 120 global economic powers 66 and TNCs

What is a Multinational Company (MNC) Very similar but they retain clear links to a specific country

Good Workers? Environment? Profits? Tax? Products? When the resources are gone? Patents? Local industry? Bad Investment? What do they need that the country also does? Education? Values? Trade?

How can you apply the theories? What would modernisation and neo-liberalism say? What would dependency theory say? What would world systems theory say?

How are you going to punish them? They are economically powerful – can pressure countries They run through subsidiary companies Whose job is it to prosecute them? Who do you punish? How do you punish them?
