PORTfolio at Virginia Wesleyan !

What is PORTfolio? Program open to ANY first year student. A selective 4 year curricular program that allows students to extend and apply their in-class education through progressive learning experiences and off-campus experiences.

What do you do in PORT? In PORTfolio you develop an electronic portfolio posted on the web, about your journey through your four years in college, self-discovery, experiences, skills developed, and growth over time. It Includes: o Liberal arts seminars o Optional Winter Session courses o Co-Curricular activities and, o Experiential learning opportunities

PORTfolio Prepares students for long term success, various opportunities to explore themselves, analytically, practically, and creatively, as well as engage students in community services opportunities. The main focus is to share the different liberal arts perspectives on the world and encourage the ability to question, deal with change, solve problems, and utilize critical thinking, working independently or in a group. Being in PORT You: CONNECT with a small group of faculty and freshmen as you share two classes each semester of your first year, live on the same residence hall floor, study together, and participate in related campus, local and regional activities. EXPLORE your interests with selected professors and fellow freshmen. SUCCEED by making friends more easily, getting to know professors better, adjusting to the expectations of college, attaining a higher level of academic achievement, and helping to make a difference through your involvement with your community. DISCOVER your potential for leadership, critical thinking and civic engagement.

Are you ready to accept and educational challenge and eager to explore beyond what is expected of you? Sign up for PORTfolio! Contact: Dr. Lawrence Hultgren or Ms. Robin Takacs for more information on how to get involved !
