G.Barber Mice Tracker Mechanical Ral June Carbon Fibre Stations We have all the carbon fibre stations required for two complete trackers fabricated thanks to Peter Cooke at Liverpool. They have been machined at the Ral workshop and are being ‘clad’ with fibres at Imperial.

G.Barber Mice Tracker Mechanical Ral June Space Frame The components that are used to construct the space frame are now at Imperial. We need to machine the feet from the plates that Liverpool have supplied. New Foot Design Gluing Fillet Design

This will not only accommodate the new foot design but will also allow us to match the new station to station pitch. This work has been carried out by Peter Ford at RAL and he is now checking that the jig falls into the required tolerances.

G.Barber Mice Tracker Mechanical Ral June The Patch Panel/Diffuser Support The diffuser is supported from the outer cover of the patch panel. As this cover is only 5mm thick it needs to be braced. We are producing a crown which transfers the load back through the back plate of the patch panel to the Solenoid end plate.
