Fuego Core 2005/7 Possible Directions Kimmo Raatikainen Principal Scientist Helsinki Institute for Information Technology

Targets presented to SAB to enlarge and strengthen international co-operation –but not forgetting co-operation in Finland to contribute to software architecture for Wireless World to address challenges due to personal networking –minimal differences between solution stacks for ad-hoc communities and networked infrastructure –peer-to-peer, device-to-device solutions to put more focus on infrastructure for context- awareness and dynamic (end-user) systems reflective (self-aware) middleware for personal networking

Fuego Core 2005/7 Vision: –Future applications are context sensitive, regonfigurable, personalized available everywhere, anytime, anyhow Mission: –Mobile Middleware –Fundamental enablers for future mobile computing

Framework for Event-based Selfaware Applications application Environment request/reply Set of interests State model of “world” subscribe preferences capabilities notify detect

Basic Functionality Set of interests –event/notification service –environment monitoring “CC/PP” functionality –user preferences –available capabilities State model of “world” of interest  context information –maintaining context view: what belongs to context –presentation –queries –extraction –reasoning –sharing –protecting
