Configuring a 3500 Using iTools

2 iTools Workshop - getting started Start iTools and from the New File menu choose 3504 v1.04 programmer

3 iTools Workshop - graphical wiring editor Firstly click on the By using the mouse of your PC press the button. 5 iTools Workshop - creating a simple control loop In configuration mode. Drag the PV Input from the IO list, Control Loop and IO Module 1A from the template menu on the left hand side of your screen and place them on the blank page The PV input channel(double click on function block) type is set to Volts, linearisation is linear and the units are %. The range is set so that a 0-10Vdc input represents 0-100% with 1 decimal point. Filter time is set to 10seconds. Control type is set to PID only. Range low and high should be Put control loop in auto as default. Note the 3500 for safety reasons is shipped configured in manual as default Output channel should be ranged 0-10Vdc and the OP display 0-100%

8 iTools Workshop - hot swap module Configuring a Hot Swap PV function using Maths block The Hot-Swap function allows a second input to be used as the loop PV if the main input fails. Configure Module 3A to be the same input range as the main PV input then drag it onto the page. and Drag Math2 onto page. Set as ‘Hot Swap’ then wire as shown, to remove the old wire from the IO.PV click on the wire and delete it. The wire will be greyed out. Then wire the PV to the In1 of the Maths2 block. Press to take the dotted wire to hard wire

These links are required so that the programmer can detect holdback and servo start to PV. Press to take the dotted wire to hard wire

11 iTools Workshop - editing a programmer 1 In iTools open the setpoint profile editor by clicking the programmer icon on the tool bar. You will now see the program editor screen as shown Add a new program segment using the plus icon on the toolbar

The segment information will now be displayed Now add a Dwell segment and a Rate segment. NOTE: -All programs contain an implied end segment of dwell. If a reset end segment is required an end segment must be specifically inserted.

13 iTools Workshop - editing a programmer 3 You should now have a simple ramp dwell profile with a reset end segment similar to the one shown below. To change the program names edit using the program name field Each segment contains 8 event outputs, these may be configured using the event out section of the segment editor. And may be viewed using the digital profile view

14 iTools Workshop - digital output profile view The event outputs may also be edited at this point by pressing The 3500 programmer model supports segment types of; End – Dwell End segment Time – time to target segment Rate – Ramp rate segment Dwell – Dwell at given setpoint Step – Step to given setpoint Call – Call out to another program. NOTE:-A program may be any combination of time and rate segments.
