Channel Access in A-BFT over Multiple Channels Month Year doc.: IEEE 802.11-yy/xxxxr0 Channel Access in A-BFT over Multiple Channels Date: 2016-01-21 Authors: Yan Xin, Huawei Technologies John Doe, Some Company

A-BFT in 802.11ad [1] 11ad channel access A-BFT in 11ad Month Year doc.: IEEE 802.11-yy/xxxxr0 A-BFT in 802.11ad [1] 11ad channel access A-BFT in 11ad BTI A-BFT SSW slot #A-BFT Length-1 SSW slot #0 MBIFS MBIFS MBIFS MBIFS SSW- Feedback SSW- Feedback PCP/AP ••• SSW Frame(s) STA SSW Frame(s) FSS=8 SSW SSW SSW SSW SSW SSW SSW SSW SBIFS PCP/AP announces the number of SSW slots (the size of A-BFT) and the number of SSW frames per SSW slot indicated, respectively, in A-BFT Length subfield (3-bit) and FSS subfield (4-bit) of Beacon Interval Control field in DMG Beacon. Yan Xin, Huawei Technologies John Doe, Some Company

Channel Access of SSW slots in 11ad A-BFT [1] Month Year doc.: IEEE 802.11-yy/xxxxr0 Channel Access of SSW slots in 11ad A-BFT [1] Random backoff procedure: An A-BFT starts as: a STA randomly selects SSW slot # based on a uniform distribution [0, A-BFT Length-1] . One example, in BTI, three DMG STAs receive the DMG Beacon frames including Beacon Interval Control field with “isResponderTXSS=1”, “A-BFT Length=8” and “FSS=8”. SSW(s) SSW- Feedback PCP/AP STA STA A STA B STA C Yan Xin, Huawei Technologies John Doe, Some Company

Collision Probability of SSW slot in A-BFT Month Year doc.: IEEE 802.11-yy/xxxxr0 Collision Probability of SSW slot in A-BFT SSW slot collision probability where L is the number of SSW slots at A-BFT and m is the number of STAs that compete channel access. Assume that the number of SSW slots L = 8. Yan Xin, Huawei Technologies John Doe, Some Company

11ay Channel Access in A-BFT over multiple channels In 802.11ad, the A-BFT is performed over a single channel. In an EDMG BSS in 802.11ay, SSW and SSW Feedback frame in A-BFT can be transmitted on either the primary channel or a secondary channel with a bandwidth of 2.16 GHz. A DMG STA shall operate A-BFT only on the primary channel. - Case 1: when STA B and STA C are not covered by the selected PCP/AP TX antenna sector and a single antenna is used PCP/AP STA SSW SSW- Feedback STA A STA B STA C Primary channel Secondary - Case 2: otherwise when both STA B and STA C can be covered by the same PCP/AP TX antenna sector or the PCP/AP is capable to transmit SSW-Feedback frames simultaneously to STA B and STA C via respective antennas PCP/AP STA SSW SSW- Feedback STA A STA B STA C Primary channel Secondary Yan Xin, Huawei Technologies

Evaluation of 11ay A-BFT over multiple channels Assume that A-BFT_Length = 8. The random backoff procedure for selection of an SSW slot in 11ay A-BFT is the same as it in 11ad. In 11ay A-BFT, an 11ay STA can select one of available channels randomly. Yan Xin, Huawei Technologies

Summary Proposed an efficient A-BFT procedure for RSS BF in 802.11ay. The new A-BFT procedure allows transmission of SSW frames sent from different STAs simultaneously over multiple channels for a dense deployment environment in 11ay. Yan Xin, Huawei Technologies

Month Year doc.: IEEE 802.11-yy/xxxxr0 Straw Poll/Motion Would you agree to include the following in the SFD: “11ay BF training should support simultaneous multi-STA RSS over multiple channels during A-BFT”? Yes: No: Abstain: Yan Xin, Huawei Technologies John Doe, Some Company
