Water In California

Importance of Water Most of the precipitation that falls in California is in the Northern half of the state. Northern

Because people and farmers all over the state need water, we must use canals and aqueducts to move water. aqueducts Ponding basins are used to store water and to recharge ground water.Ponding ground water

Snow Pack Our mountains receive a great amount of water in the form of snow.snow This water flows downhill to the valley in the spring when the snow melts and is stored in lakes and ponding basins.downhill We use this water as a major supply for people and agriculture.

Water In California Storage: –Mountains (Snow, Ice) –Natural Lakes –Man made Lakes –Ponding Basins –Ground Water
