Presentation transcript:

 Shrublands include regoins such as chapparel, woodland and savanna.Shrubland are the areas that are located in the west coast of regions between 30 and 40 North and south latitude. Shrubland usually get more rain than deserts and grasslands but less than forested areas. Shrublands typically receive between 200 and 1000 millimeters of rain a year.

 Hot dry summers  Mild moist winters  Nutrient-poor soil  Wildfires

 Woody evergreen shrubs with small, leathery leaves; fragrant, oily herbs that grow during winter and die in the summer.

 Coyotes  Foxes  Bobcats  Mountain Lions  Blacktailed deer  Rabbits  Squirrels  Mice

 Western coasts of North and South America, areas around the Mediterranean Sea,South Africa, and Australia

 The Shrublands are made up of shrubs or short trees. Many shrubs thrive on steep, rocky slopes. Shrublands are usually fairly open so grasses and other short plants grow between the shrubs.

 Where are the Chapperal woodlands and the Savanna?  Name two abiotic factors?  Why are Shrublands usually fairly open?
