3 www.unescobkk.org/education/epr by Dominique Altner3/10 Existing Challenges Existing information on SE is dispersed among different institutions and remains inaccessible to those involved in formulation and implementation of SE programmes and policies Information gaps still exist. Many of the important issues are up on the policy agenda without detailed comparative research and assessment Existing information and research need to be transposed into formats directly useful for education practitioners in Government institutions

4 www.unescobkk.org/education/epr by Dominique Altner4/10 Project Contributions Mid-term objectives: Creation of a regional knowledge base on SE and Institutional capacity building Pulling together policy-relevant information available within Governments and int’l agencies and making it accessible in a systematic form via Internet to wider audience Filling specific knowledge and information gaps in SE development and reform through in-depth research focusing on teacher training, management and financing Preparing a practice-oriented tool kit, Secondary Education Resource Book, providing approaches and practical advice for policy design

Contributions from education units and specialists within UNESCO Bangkok such as ICT for education First expert meeting in Bangkok with participation from IIEP, UIS and int’l and regional experts (“Conceptualization and Work Planning Meeting” UNESCO Bangkok, 16-19 February 2005) Literature and donor program review launched in May 2005 and ongoing
